Senate approves law on free public transport for elderly

At the 55th plenary session, the Senate approved the Law "On Amendments and Additions to Certain Legislative Acts in Connection with the Improvement of the Social Services and Assistance System."

The National Agency for Social Protection has been assigned the responsibilities of issuing funeral allowances, protecting women from harassment and violence, and exempting them from paying state fees when filing civil and administrative cases in courts.

Additionally, the requirement for providing a medical institution's certificate when counting time spent caring for an elderly person aged 80 or older, who requires external care, as work experience is removed.

The law also grants the right to free use of city public transport to elderly citizens living alone, elderly individuals living alone, and persons with disabilities who require external care.

Furthermore, the law exempts citizens of Uzbekistan from paying state fees when replacing lost or damaged ID cards or biometric passports.

It also allows for funds allocated for sponsoring elderly citizens living alone, elderly individuals living alone, and persons with disabilities who require external care to be included in expenses subject to deduction when determining the tax base.
