Makhkamov explained that passengers will soon be able to purchase tickets or QR codes for bus rides at kiosks placed at bus stops. The Minister noted that the system is currently being tested in Tashkent and will gradually expand.

"All buses will be equipped with devices to scan QR codes, removing the need for conductors as there will no longer be cash handling," Makhkamov stated.

In addition, the Minister introduced a new "gross-contract" system, under which public transport operators will be paid based on timely passenger delivery rather than ticket sales.

As part of its modernization plan, Uzbekistan is preparing to purchase 1,294 new buses, with a focus on developing electric bus networks in Tashkent and Samarkand. By 2030, the country aims to expand its fleet to 5,000 buses, including 2,000 electric buses, ensuring that public transportation services reach all cities and districts across Uzbekistan.
