The official prices of the BYD E2 model, which BYD Uzbekistan Factory launched in collaboration with its Chinese partners, were leaked online ahead of schedule. It has been revealed that the BYD E2 price starts at 242 million UZS (approximately $19,300).
According to the "Avtostrada" publication, the lowest-priced version of the BYD E2 Comfort is 242 million UZS. The Luxury configuration of the same model is sold in private dealerships for 200 million UZS, meaning the manufacturer's price is 42 million UZS higher.
"In addition, this price includes the cost of importing the car from China, VAT, processing fees, certification, and customs duties. Furthermore, some 'gray' dealers provide a 2-year warranty on the vehicle," writes the publication.
For reference, in July of this year, "Uzavtosanoat" reached an agreement with Chinese partners at BYD Uzbekistan Factory to produce new models, specifically the BYD Seagull and E2.
Earlier, the Director General of BYD Uzbekistan Factory, Shafqatbek Alimov, stated that BYD vehicles produced in Uzbekistan would be cheaper than imported ones.
In an open dialogue with entrepreneurs in the automotive and electrical engineering sectors on July 26, ahead of the meeting with the President, the Chairman of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Davron Vahobov, expressed his "100 percent" support for the introduction of duties on electric car imports.
At the event, Daniyar Davletyarov, the CEO of ADM Jizzakh, which produces KIA cars in Uzbekistan, argued that the local market is "oversaturated and overheated" and proposed regulating the import of cars by individuals and reinstating duties on electric vehicle imports. His suggestions were met with significant criticism due to their potentially negative impact on the competitive environment in the domestic market.
