Uzbekistan is negotiating with other countries on mutual recognition of certificates of conformity, Spot reports with reference to the Director of the Agency for Technical Regulation Akmal Jumanazarov.
At a round table for the automotive and electrical industries held on July 26, a representative of the Golden Lift joint venture drew attention to the problem with certification. As a solution, she proposed transferring certification powers directly to entrepreneurs.
Until 2023, the company had been producing elevators in the Navoi FEZ for five years. However, this year it had problems with the certificate, which is why production was idle for six months.
“Our work was suspended by the state industrial safety agency, because they made a big problem out of certification. We asked to be given the right to issue certificates to ourselves,” the representative of Golden Lift said.
According to her, companies from China and Turkey freely issue certificates for products imported to Uzbekistan. At the same time, local manufacturers cannot issue them, which is why production is stopped.
Jumanazarov noted that until now there have been no problems in the elevator sector and promised to clarify the situation. He also noted that the government is negotiating the issue of certification with other countries.
“We are planning to draw up an agreement with Italy, it provides for mutual recognition of certificates. We are also developing a procedure for mutual recognition of certificates with countries such as the Russian Federation, Turkey, and are signing an intergovernmental agreement,” the official said.
Business Ombudsman Dilmurod Kosimov also drew attention to the problem. He said that the Ministry of Justice would be instructed to simplify the certification system.
