The final stage of the reconstruction of the airfield complex at Termez International Airport has been completed, Uzbekistan Airports reported.
An additional taxiway (TWY-A) was built, as well as a section of the main taxiway. Their expansion will allow wide-body aircraft such as the Airbus 330, Boeing 777, and 787 to taxi without restrictions.
Additionally, the airport received a new apron section with three aircraft parking stands. The pavement for the apron construction, as well as for the runway, was made of cement concrete.
The main stage of the airfield reconstruction took place in November-December 2022. At that time, a new 4E-class airfield complex with a runway 3 km long and 60 meters wide was built.
The airfield was equipped with a new ICAO Category I lighting system, as well as meteorological and radio navigation landing systems. The cost of the work amounted to 377 billion UZS.
The additional three aircraft parking stands and the taxiway were expected to be completed in the spring of 2023. It was estimated that the total cost of the reconstruction would be 550 billion UZS.
