On January 7, a taxi driver in a Nexia car gave a ride to an acquaintance on business. Meanwhile, another acquaintance joined them. They bought alcohol and chose a field for recreation in the Peshagor mahalla, Zaamin district.
Upon arrival, the passengers drank, and the car driver, talking on the phone in anger, drove in reverse and inadvertently injured the head of one of the passengers, who was lying behind the car.
The driver got scared and decided to flee from the scene, assuring the second passenger that the victim would leave on his own when he regained consciousness. After some time, he also convinced the witness to say that the victim was left at the bus stop if anyone asked.
The court case was considered in the Zaamin district criminal court of Jizzakh region. During the court hearing, the driver apologized, admitting that his carelessness led to the death of a person, and he did not take the necessary measures to provide medical assistance.
The defendant, in accordance with the relevant articles of the Criminal Code, was sentenced to imprisonment for a period of 3 years and 1 month, as well as deprivation of the right to drive all types of vehicles for 3 years.
