According to the MFA, during the meeting the current state and prospects for the development of interaction between Uzbekistan and OHCHR were discussed.
Representatives of the Office of the High Commissioner were informed about the large-scale reforms carried out in Uzbekistan in recent years, including in the field of human rights and freedoms, promotion of gender equality, comprehensive development of youth, and the complete eradication of forced and child labor. It was noted that evidence of the widespread recognition of the ongoing reforms was the election for the first time in the history of Central Asian countries of a representative of Uzbekistan as a member of the UN Human Rights Committee for 2025-2028.
The parties also discussed the progress of implementation of previously reached agreements and the development of joint programs and projects with the UN and its institutions.
