The facility will not resume operations and will remain closed indefinitely.

"The primary goal is to protect the population and the area from potential emergencies and to prevent any future incidents," the statement emphasized.

On December 17, at approximately 1:45 PM, an explosion and fire occurred at the Petrolium propane gas station in the Yangiyul neighborhood of Fergana city. The incident took place when a crack appeared in a 5 cubic meter gas container during the refueling process, causing gas to leak and resulting in an explosion and fire.

As a result, one person was killed at the scene. Several others were injured to varying degrees and were taken to the hospital. Despite medical treatment, three of the injured later died in the hospital.

In response, the Fergana regional police have opened a criminal case under Articles 257 (Violation of labor protection regulations) and 259 (Violation of fire safety regulations) of the Criminal Code.

Currently, five individuals have been arrested in connection with the case. Relevant expert examinations have been ordered, and investigations are ongoing.

Local residents, in interviews with Kun.uz, expressed dissatisfaction with the construction of the gas station and filling stations in the area. However, authorities reportedly did not address these concerns.

In addition, following the explosion, the governor of Fergana region issued an order to inspect all fuel and gas filling stations operating in the region to ensure their compliance with established safety standards and regulations.
