Bangladesh set to resume direct flights to Uzbekistan after 20-year hiatus
After a two-decade hiatus, direct flights between Bangladesh and Uzbekistan are anticipated to resume, solidifying the mutual commitment to bolstering connectivity and fostering closer bilateral relations.

Established in 1993, the routes were initially discontinued in 2005, but with recent developments and renewed interest from both nations, the skies are set to reopen, marking a new chapter in international travel and commerce.
The Bangladeshi Cabinet of Ministers has endorsed a proposed bilateral air services agreement, aiming to reactivate direct flights connecting Bangladesh and Uzbekistan, as reported by The Daily Messenger.
The resolution passed during a cabinet meeting, presided over by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina at her office.
"Cabinet Secretary Mahbub Hossain, addressing journalists at the Bangladesh Secretariat post-meeting, announced, 'According to the accord, direct flights to Uzbekistan will materialize,'" confirming advancement in the draft agreement's applicational process following Uzbekistan's recent signal of intent to reinstate air services.
Flights between Bangladesh and Uzbekistan commenced under an initial agreement forged in 1993, later ceasing operations in 2005. This forthcoming revival signifies a pivotal move in reconnecting the two nations, fostering increased travel, cultural exchange, and trade opportunities.
