A video has been circulated on social networks in which 1st grade students studying at a school in the Jizzakh region are standing with their chairs raised above their heads. The Children’s Ombudsman took control of the situation.
It was established that on April 22 of this year in the 1st “A” class of primary school No. 5 of the Zarbdar district, during an English lesson, teacher R.T. (born 1999) checked the students’ homework.
As an educational measure, the teacher forced six boys and seven girls to raise the chairs they were sitting on in the classroom because they came to class unprepared. She filmed this situation on her phone and sent it to a parental group on Telegram.
Currently, the Zarbdar district police department is conducting a pre-investigation check on this fact.
The use of various forms of violence or educational measures based on violence against children, including inhuman or degrading treatment and punishment, is prohibited by law and is the basis for corresponding liability.
The Children’s Ombudsman will continue to study the situation, the statement reads.
