Last week, an online meeting of the fatwa boards of Turkic countries such as Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Türkiye, and Azerbaijan was held at the initiative of the Muslim Board of Uzbekistan.
According to the Muslim Board, the meeting focused on detailed discussions and analysis of lunar sighting activities for Ramadan, astronomical calculations, and celestial data by scholars and domain experts.
Additionally, extensive reviews were conducted of information from prominent fatwa bodies and esteemed astronomical institutions worldwide.
Relying on fiqh principles, the scholars from the Turkic states reached a unanimous decision, taking into account celestial calculations and astronomical observations, that the first day of Ramadan for the Hijri year 1445 will fall on March 11, 2024.
