The Health Ministry's press service announced that the new fleet, assembled by Jizzakh Auto company, has been distributed according to the current needs of the respective emergency medical service branches. With this latest addition, the total count of such vehicles in the system now exceeds 800.
The initiative to provide these vehicles commenced in September 2021, following a presidential decree issued in May of that year, which ordered the delivery of 1,000 Volkswagen Caddy vehicles to regions by October.
Earlier last year, it was reported that the 103 emergency services operated with 2,938 ambulances, 22% of which required updating. Most of the existing fleet consisted of 2,082 Damas vehicles, which are being gradually phased out across the country due to suitability concerns. In addition, the service included 244 Hyundai, 228 Ford, and other vehicles.
Throughout 2023, a total of 685 Volkswagen Caddy ambulances were delivered to emergency medical centers. This update significantly expands the fleet to over 800 units, bolstering the quick-response capabilities of emergency services.
Further, the Health Ministry notes that plans are in place to distribute an additional 170 vehicles to various regions by March, highlighting the government's commitment to upgrading public health infrastructure and ensuring swift medical responses to emergencies across the nation.
