Trade between Uzbekistan and Afghanistan increased sixfold over a year
The volume of trade turnover amounted to $266 million, which is several times different from the State Statistics Committee data.

At the end of 2023, the volume of trade between Uzbekistan and Afghanistan increased more than six times, the Afghan publication Tolonews reports.
According to the Afghan Ministry of Industry and Commerce, Uzbekistan and Afghanistan traded $266 million last year, which is 6.04 times more than in 2022.
“In 2023, we had exports worth $27 million and imports from Uzbekistan worth $239 million, and most of our exported goods to Uzbekistan are dried fruits, fruit juices, apricots, sesame seeds, carpets, and most of the goods we import are electricity, flour, beans, chemical fertilizers, oil and gas,” the Afghan department shared.
The Afghanistan Chamber of Commerce and Industry also plans to strengthen relations with neighboring countries by establishing ties with China through Uzbekistan.
According to the State Statistics Committee, in January-November 2023, the volume of trade between Uzbekistan and Afghanistan amounted to $784.1 million, of which more than 98% came from Uzbek exports.
