PGO: About 500 persons committed bribe-related crimes over 2 years

In 2021-2022, 486 persons were prosecuted for crimes related to bribery, the Deputy Head of the Anti-Corruption Coordination Department under the Prosecutor General’s Office, Karimjon Musashaykhov, announced.

15 of those held responsible are officials of non-governmental organizations, 88 are employees of state bodies, and 382 are officials of state bodies.

Of those who committed these crimes, 62 were engaged in preschool education, 53 – in healthcare, 49 – in public education, 30 – in electricity and gas supply enterprises, 25 – in non-state commercial organizations, 20 – in agriculture and water management, 15 – in local government, 14 – in tax, cadastre, 13 – in employment, transport, ecology fields, 8 – in finance, agroinspection, 7 – in citizens’ self-management bodies, 6 – in higher education, culture, construction, defense spheres, 5 – in banking, 3 – in economy and 43 – in other fields.

Bribery in the pre-school education system was mainly committed in exchange for hiring, increasing the rate of work, admitting a child to a kindergarten outside the queue, providing outsourcing services, and giving bonuses to employees.

Taking bribes in the healthcare system is mainly allowed in such cases as determining disability, performing surgery, giving a positive opinion of a medical expert, hiring, and not taking action against detected law violations.

Bribery in the system of electricity and gas supply enterprises is mainly found in situations such as not taking legal measures against arbitrary connection to gas and electricity networks, reducing or eliminating debt, connection to the network and providing technical conditions, hiring or firing.

It is noted that the persons who committed these actions were prosecuted in the appropriate manner.
