A video circulating on social media claimed that cracks had appeared in the Akdarya Reservoir in Ishtikhan district. The district administration issued an official statement regarding the matter.

According to the administration, no malfunctions or hazardous situations had occurred at the reservoir. The water level was within normal limits, and the dam and related infrastructure were functioning properly. All facilities are continuously monitored by specialists.

"The Akdarya Reservoir, being a strategically important facility, has undergone technical inspections in accordance with the law, and its safety is fully assured," stated the administration.

It was later revealed that two individuals filmed and spread the misleading video. The court imposed an administrative fine on them.

According to the court ruling, J.Kh., born in 1988 and a resident of Ishtikhan district, and M.P., born in 1989 and a resident of Kattakurgan district, filmed the ongoing repair work at the southern-western shore of the reservoir on January 10, 2025. They then spread the false claim, "The water in the Ishtikhan district reservoir is about to overflow, and the reservoir is about to collapse."

Both individuals were found guilty under Article 202-2, part 2 of the Administrative Offenses Code (spreading false information). Each was fined 7.5 million UZS, which is 20 times the base calculation unit.
