The Chinese company Anhui Coronet Tech intends to establish the production of electric vehicles in the Khorezm region, the press service of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry reports.
On December 26, representatives of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry met with the Anhui Coronet delegation. During the negotiations, an investment project was discussed to establish the production of electric vehicles for the domestic market, as well as for export to other Central Asian countries.
At the first stage, it is planned to spend $7 million on the construction of workshops for the assembly and production of electric cars.
The total cost of the investment project is estimated at $30 million, which could create more than 700 jobs.
Deputy head of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry Umidbek Safarov proposed organizing the production of electric vehicles in a free economic zone in the Khorezm region, without specifying its name. A meeting will also be held with the regional administration.
The most likely place for the production of electric cars may be the Khazarasp FEZ, where a special tax, customs and currency regime applies. In 2020, the territory of the SEZ was expanded to accommodate import-substituting and export-oriented finished industrial products.
