The head of state noted with satisfaction the start of implementation, with the participation of a Qatari company, of a project for the construction of a modern power plant in the Syrdarya region based on combined cycle gas technologies with a capacity of 1.6 GW. Preparation of work on the project for the construction of a thermal power plant in the Surkhandarya region is being completed.
Joint plans were discussed to create energy storage systems with a capacity of 600 MW in the Tashkent region and launch wind generation with a capacity of 1 GW in Karakalpakstan.
An agreement was reached on the adoption of a long-term partnership program with the inclusion of promising projects, primarily in the field of “green” energy.
As part of the business program of the state visit to Qatar, the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev received the Director of the Qatar Investment Agency Bandar bin Saoud Al-Thani.
During the meeting, issues of attracting direct investment from the agency in the implementation of investment projects, such as the construction of “green” energy facilities – solar and wind stations in the regions of the country, modernization of transport infrastructure, including the construction of modern air terminals, and others, were discussed in detail.
