Middle-aged man who sexually harassed a 7-year-old girl in Tashkent gets 18 years in prison

A 55-year-old man who sexually harassed a 7-year-old girl in the hallway of an apartment building in the Mirzo Ulugbek district of Tashkent was sentenced to 18 years in prison, the information service of Tashkent city courts reported.

On September 20, 2023, in the Mirabad district court on criminal proceedings considered a criminal case against Kha.A. (born in Tashkent region in 1968, retired, convicted under Article 129-1 (perpetrating obscene acts against a person under the age of sixteen) of the Criminal Code). The trial was completed and the verdict was announced.

This criminal case was considered in a closed court session under the chairmanship of Mirzo Ulugbek district court chairman Sh. Bakayev in accordance with the requirements of Article 19 of the Criminal Procedural Code (public hearing of criminal cases in court).

According to the announced court verdict, Kh.A. was found guilty of committing a crime under Article 119 of the Criminal Code (unnatural satisfaction of sexual desire by force) and was sentenced to 18 years in prison. It was determined that the punishment will be served in strict colonies.

It should be recalled that on June 7 this year at 17:00 in Mirzo Ulugbek district, a video showing a stranger followed a 7-year-old girl and attacked her in the hallway of an apartment building. The man scared the girl, took her to the opposite door (so that no one could see from the main door), sexually harassed her and performed various indecent acts. He fled the scene when the door opened. 

The victim’s parents, who learned about the situation, immediately contacted the internal affairs bodies. On June 9, the Tashkent city DIA reported that the suspect had been arrested.
