Administrative responsibility established for cloning IMEI code of a mobile device 

A number of draft laws were discussed at the meeting of the Legislative Chamber of Oliy Majlis.

In particular, the draft law “On amendments and additions to the Criminal, Criminal Procedural Codes of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Administrative Responsibility Code of the Republic of Uzbekistan” was considered in the second reading.

According to deputy Doniyor Ganiyev, the law establishes administrative responsibility for changing the IMEI code of a mobile device.

“In accordance with this draft law, additions are being made to the Administrative Responsibility Code that provide for administrative responsibility for changing or making a copy of the international, unique identification code of a mobile device or the identification module of a subscriber’s device contrary to the legal documents, violating the legislation in the field of crypto-asset circulation, and carrying out the illegal mining activities,” he said.

The deputy noted that specific norms related to the crime of extortion will also be included in Article 165 of the Criminal Code.

After discussions, the bill was passed in the third reading.
