According to the document, an agreement on cooperation in the field of higher education and scientific research was approved between the governments of Uzbekistan and Qatar.
The agreement was signed on June 6, 2023, when the emir of Qatar visited the city of Samarkand. The Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Innovation was designated as the competent body responsible for the implementation of the international agreement.
The Cabinet of Ministers and the heads of relevant ministries and departments shall ensure the control over the implementation of its provisions after the entry into force of this international agreement.
Relations with Qatar
Cooperation between Uzbekistan and Qatar has been strengthening recently. In particular, the Qatari embassy was opened in Tashkent in May 2023. Confidence was expressed that the opening of the diplomatic mission of Qatar will open a new page in the history of bilateral relations and serve to enrich them with practical content.
In June, a visa-free regime was introduced for Qatari citizens for a period of 30 days.
The President of Uzbekistan expressed confidence that the relations between the two countries will reach the level of “comprehensive partnership” during the talks with the Emir of Qatar in Samarkand in June. The leaders of the states announced that they are ready to increase the indicators of mutual trade. 15 bilateral documents were signed then.
