Reportedly, the parameters of the “tripartite” gas union project between Russia, Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan are being developed.

Currently, the parameters of the “tripartite” gas union of Russia, Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan are being developed, and the amount of capital investments is being determined. Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Russia Mikhail Galuzin told about this in an interview with RIA Novosti.

“Currently, possible project parameters are being developed at the level of experts. It is necessary to clarify the real needs of partners, the volume of future investments,” the diplomat said.

He expressed confidence that stable and long-term gas supply will serve the energy security and sustainable development of the entire Central Asian region. Galuzin called the prospects for the development of tripartite cooperation in the gas sector “good”.

Russian President Vladimir Putin and Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev discussed the issue of forming a “tripartite” alliance in the gas sector with the participation of Uzbekistan at a meeting held in the Kremlin at the end of November last year. It was said that the purpose of the “union” is to coordinate actions on the transportation of gas from Russia to the territories of Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan.

On April 14, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said that the countries had managed to move forward in discussing the idea of a union. According to him, “if the parties agree on both the terms of transit and the terms of the price, and everyone is satisfied with everything, everyone wins”. Other details of cooperation between Moscow, Astana and Tashkent have not been provided.
