News about the death of Hojiakbar Nosirov, the author of ACTIVIST project, spread on social networks. The PGO press secretary, Khayot Shamsutdinov, told Kun.uz that these reports are false.

In addition, he denied that a criminal case was initiated against Hojiakbar Nosirov.

“The news that a criminal case has been initiated against Hojiakbar Nosirov and he is charged with several articles of the Criminal Code published on social networks are not true,” the official of the Prosecutor General’s Office said.

The lack of information about Hojiakbar Nosirov, who was imprisoned for 15 days on April 8, attracted the attention of activists and bloggers.

Khayot Shamsutdinov said that he was released on April 23 of this year at 16:00 after serving the administrative sentence set by the court.

However, the YouTube channel of ACTIVIST project has not been operated since April 9, and its Telegram channel – since April 12; many posts on the Telegram channel have disappeared.

It should be recalled that the blogger was administratively imprisoned for 15 days after he distributed a video claiming that the yogurts belonging to several companies contain carmine and therefore, they are haram. The accusation was based on the expert opinion of the Committee on Religious Affairs and other evidence.

On April 14, Hojiakbar Nosirov’s lawyer filed a complaint with the criminal trial panel of the Tashkent city court. However, the court decided to end the appellate procedure because the blogger asked to leave his lawyer’s complaint unheard.

Activists wrote that the court’s decision was unfair, that the blogger was imprisoned for 15 days, and that the court could not properly evaluate the situation.

For example, former MP Rasul Kusherbayev said that the article “disobeying a police officer” attached to the administrative case has turned into a “on-duty article” used to imprison the desired person. Lawyer Abdumalik Abdullayev doubted the decision of the court that considered the administrative case against Hojiakbar Nosirov.
