43 children who were deprived of parental care abroad repatriated to Uzbekistan

Last year, 43 children who were deprived of parental care abroad were brought back to Uzbekistan. Fatima Madrakhimova, head of the information service of the Oliy Majlis representative on human rights, reported.

During 2022, a total of 696 appeals regarding violation of children’s rights and legal interests were received by the Children’s Ombudsman. During the study of 29 appeals about the right to receive alimony in 2022, the Prosecutor General’s Office was able to collect 389.3 million of alimony for 71 children from their parents. 

In 2021-2022, a total of 21 children’s institutions for children deprived of parental care were terminated.

Today, a total of 139 family orphanages have been established across the republic, where 822 children are being educated.

During 2022, a total of 43 children were brought back to Uzbekistan – 37 from the Russian Federation, 4 from the Republic of Kazakhstan, and 2 from Turkey.
