According to Uztransgaz, Turkmenistan started gas transmission in the volume of 4.8 million cubic meters per day, and today this figure has reached 12.6 million cubic meters.
“The daily delivery volume will be gradually increased to 16 million cubic meters,” Uztransgaz said.
Turkmenistan suspended gas exports to Uzbekistan on January 12. Some sources said that this was due to pressure from Russia, and some noted that technical malfunctions occurred in the Galkynysh mine in Turkmenistan due to severe cold. On January 20, it was reported that the President of Turkmenistan, Serdar Berdimukhamedov, visited this mine.
In December 2022, Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan for the first time reached an agreement on short-term gas supply without the participation of a third party, only through bilateral negotiations. At that time, official sources said anonymously that it was agreed to import 20 million cubic meters of gas per day (a total of 1.5 billion cubic meters in 3 months).
Earlier it was reported that Russia had asked Uzbekistan to hand over the gas transport system to Gazprom.
