The Rule of Law Index was developed in 2010. It measures the achievements of countries in the field of ensuring the legal environment: experts determine how the principles of the rule of law are implemented in everyday life. The data are grouped into eight benchmarks: limited powers of government institutions, lack of corruption, transparency of government institutions, protection of fundamental rights, order and security, law enforcement, civil and criminal justice.
