Counterfeit banknotes were made by a prisoner serving a sentence in a colony-settlement of Kamashi district. The convict transferred the money to the buyer through his wife and minor child.
On October 12, during an operative event, law enforcement agencies detained a temporarily unemployed citizen living in the Kasan district on suspicion of trafficking in counterfeit banknotes, the press service of the Kashkadarya regional DIA reported.
It turned out that the detainee agreed to sell the fake 500 million soums for 125 million soums.
He was detained at the time of selling part of the agreed amount (200 million soums) to a conditional buyer.
During the pre-investigation check, it turned out that counterfeit banknotes were handed over to a resident of Kasan by the spouse and a minor child of the prisoner, serving a sentence in a colony-settlement in Kamashi district.
The device and paper used in the manufacture of counterfeit banknotes were confiscated in a procedural manner. An investigation is underway.
