Shavkat Mirziyoyev meets with Vladimir Putin in Samarkand

On September 15, the President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin, who came to Samarkand to participate in the summit of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, held talks.

The leader of Uzbekistan warmly welcomed the high-ranking guest and expressed gratitude for his participation in the Samarkand SCO summit.

Vladimir Putin, in turn, expressed his gratitude to Shavkat Mirziyoyev for his warm hospitality as always, and highly appreciated the rapid and effective development of cooperation between our countries at all levels.

The parties noted with satisfaction that in recent years the multifaceted partnership between Uzbekistan and Russia has grown to an unprecedented level.

Mutually beneficial trade-economic relations are expanding. Through joint efforts, trade has more than doubled, and mutual trade has grown by more than 30% in the past seven months. It is noteworthy that 70% of the bilateral trade consists of high value-added products.

Industrial cooperation is developing rapidly. In the following years, more than 100 joint projects were launched in mining and metallurgy, fuel and energy, chemistry, agriculture, mechanical engineering, textile and other industries.

The parties, first of all, agreed to adopt a comprehensive action plan for the development of industrial-technological partnership in the electronics, pharmaceutical, textile and sewing-knitting industries.

Within the framework of this visit, it was noted that new investment agreements worth $4.6 billion were signed in the fields of mechanical engineering, chemistry, petrochemicals and geology.

Direct relations between regions play an important role in expanding cooperation. In the first half of the year, there were about 50 visits between the two countries.

The parties agreed to establish joint industrial parks in the regions of Uzbekistan and to hold the next forum of the regions of Uzbekistan and Russia in October of this year.

Also, the Presidents highly appreciated the eventful and wide-scale cultural and humanitarian cooperation.

Uzbekistan is the leader in the number of foreign branches of Russian higher education institutions. In the last four years, 12 branches of leading universities of this country have been opened in our country, and the total number has reached 15.

Relations in the field of tourism are also actively developing. This year, the number of tourists from Russia to Uzbekistan has increased compared to the pre-pandemic levels.

At the meeting, opinions were exchanged on regional and international issues of interest to the parties.

At the end of the cordial and friendly meeting, the parties confirmed once again that they are determined to further strengthen the strategic partnership and alliance relations between Uzbekistan and Russia.

According to Sherzod Asadov, press secretary of the President of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev and Vladimir Putin signed a declaration on comprehensive strategic partnership between Uzbekistan and Russia.

The head of Uzbekistan was awarded the Order of Alexander Nevsky of Russia.
