According to the press service of the parliament, in the first half of 2022, over 500 visits, meetings and dialogues at the highest and high levels were held as part of the state program to implement the development strategy of the new Uzbekistan in the “Year of Ensuring Human Interests and Mahalla Development”. As a result, as of July 1 of this year, the forecast for the export of goods, determined in the context of the diplomatic missions of Uzbekistan abroad, was fulfilled by $4 billion 642 million.

According to the minister, the embassies assigned to the territories of the republic have developed 386 investment projects totaling $13.4 billion and are currently working with the relevant ministries and departments to implement these projects.

At the same time, during the discussions, attention was drawn to a number of shortcomings in the activities of the ministry. In particular, despite the fact that the country has established diplomatic relations with more than 140 countries, it is noted that investment cooperation is carried out with only 25% of them, that is, with 35 countries. Foreign trade relations have not been established with such potential countries as Georgia, Denmark, the Netherlands, Ireland, Brazil, Portugal, Bangladesh and Greece. 50% of projects developed at the initiative of embassies remain unrealized.

The work carried out by the embassies to promote tourism and the export of national handicrafts to foreign markets did not yield significant results.

Also, the senators paid attention to the issue of supporting labor migrants abroad, which always causes justified criticism by the general public.

The Senate criticized the ministry for not developing the legal framework to support labor migrants, protect their rights and legitimate interests. In particular, there was little progress in the signing of bilateral documents as part of the creation of new directions for labor migrants with such foreign partners as the UK, Poland, Latvia and Lithuania.

There are still various technical malfunctions and difficulties in obtaining an electronic visa of Uzbekistan for foreign tourists through the E-visa website.

It also stressed that the official websites of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the embassies of Uzbekistan abroad are not regularly updated. There is not enough information and links for investors, businessmen and tourists.
