Speaking at the first meeting of the Uzbekistan-Azerbaijan-Turkey format, Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan Vladimir Norov said:

- Great prospects will open up with creation of the Trans-Afghan corridor. On July 26 this year in Tashkent, we held an International Conference on the theme “Afghanistan: security and economic development”, which was also attended by a high-ranking delegation of the Interim Government of Afghanistan.

Representatives of the Taliban Movement agreed that implementation of the project for constructing the “Termez – Mazar-i-Sharif – Kabul – Peshawar” railway is of great strategic importance for Afghanistan’s reconstruction.

Implementation of this project will significantly reduce the time and cost of transporting goods between the largest sub-regions through Central Asia and open up a unique opportunity for our countries to directly enter the promising markets of South Asia with a total population of 1.9 billion people and a GDP of $3.5 trillion.
