Vladimir Norov announces his retirement

"After 45 years of work in government organizations and foreign diplomatic missions, I decided to retire. I am grateful to President Shavkat Mirziyoyev for supporting my decision," Norov wrote on his LinkedIn page.

For information, Vladimir Norov was born in 1955 in Bukhara. He worked as an ambassador in different countries in different years (in 1998-2003 - the Ambassador of Uzbekistan to Germany, as well as to Poland and Switzerland, in 2005-2006 - the Ambassador of Uzbekistan to Belgium, from December 2, 2014, the Ambassador of Uzbekistan to Luxembourg). From July 12, 2006, to January 12, 2010, he worked as the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan.

In May 2017, Vladimir Norov was appointed director of the Institute of Strategic and Interregional Studies under the President of Uzbekistan. In 2019-2021, he worked as the Secretary General of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization.

On December 31, 2021, he was appointed the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs. After Abdulaziz Kamilov resigned, he headed the MFA on September 9, 2022. 

Prior to his announcement of retirement, he had been working as the director of the International Institute for Central Asia.
