On July 19, acting Minister of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan Vladimir Norov held talks in Tashkent with Georgian Foreign Minister Elijah Darchiashvili. The meeting was organized within the framework of a visit to Uzbekistan of a Georgian delegation headed by Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili.
During the talks, the parties considered proposals to intensify ties in the fields of politics, economy, transport-communication, tourism and culture.
It was noted that there is a significant potential for interaction in the transport and transit sphere.
In particular, the sides exchanged views on the effective use of the logistics centers of Uzbekistan and the seaports of Georgia for the export and import of goods, the mutual provision of discounts and benefits for their transportation, the creation of a system of transport corridors linking Central Asia and the South Caucasus.
In addition, the parties declared their readiness to continue cooperation within the framework of international institutions.
In order to intensify cultural and humanitarian exchanges, an agreement was reached to hold Days of Culture and Cinema on a reciprocal basis, as well as to organize joint scientific and technical research.
Following the meeting, the parties signed the Cooperation Program between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan and Georgia for 2022-2024.
