Sardor Umurzakov heads Presidential Administration

Deputy Prime Minister – Minister of Investments and Foreign Trade Sardor Umurzakov has become the chief of the Presidential Administration, president’s spokesman Sherzod Asadov said.

On July 8, Zaynilobiddin Nizomiddinov, who has been working as the head of the Presidential Administration since 2018, was dismissed from office due to health problems. Nizomiddinov was appointed the first deputy chairman of the Council of the Federation of Trade Unions of Uzbekistan.

Sardor Umurzakov was born on November 23, 1977 in Tashkent. He graduated from Tashkent State University of Economics (bachelor’s degree) and University of Reading (Great Britain, master’s degree). He has the degree of Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.).

During the years 2000-2003, he worked in the system of the National Bank of Foreign Economic Activity (first at the head office, then at the branch in Samarkand). In November 2003, he started working at the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (London).

Returning to Uzbekistan in 2007, Umurzakov worked as the deputy head of the Treasury at the Ministry of Finance, the first deputy, the head of the Tashkent City Treasury.

In 2014-2017, he was an adviser to the Board Chairman of the “Uzbekcharmpoyabzali” association, and in 2017-2018, he was a deputy chairman. After the association was reorganized and transformed into “Uzcharmsanoat”, he chaired it in 2018-2019.

On January 28, 2019, he was appointed Minister of Investments and Foreign Trade, and on March 10, 2020, he was promoted to the rank of Deputy Prime Minister.
