The rating, which has been compiled for 27 years, takes into account important factors such as changes in exchange rates in cities, inflation, instability of housing prices, as well as evaluation of more than 200 goods and services, including transportation, clothing, food, and medical services.
“Inflation and currency volatility fueled by the global health crisis and the conflict in Ukraine are affecting international economic balances and the cost of living for all of us,” the company wrote.
227 cities from around the world participated in this rating, only “Mercer” did not include any cities from Russia and Ukraine in the list.
When determining the cost of living, the places go from the most expensive to the least expensive.
The top 10 cheapest cities include cities where the majority of the population is Muslim.
Tashkent, the capital of Uzbekistan, took the 221st place in this ranking and took the 7th place among cheap cities.
