As noted in the Australian Foreign Ministry, the ceremony of presenting credentials at the residence of the Governor General is the first since the lifting of quarantine restrictions in the country.
At the meeting, the Governor-General praised the stable growth of the economy of Uzbekistan in recent years and rapid developments in the textile, electrical, agricultural and other sectors of the republic.
Noting the comprehensive reforms of the education system in Uzbekistan, which have allowed in recent years to attract about 25 foreign universities into the country, David Hurley also reported on the existence of good prospects for bilateral cooperation with a number of leading Australian educational institutions that could find their place in the educational system of Uzbekistan.
The possibility of mutually beneficial collaboration in the transfer of Australian experience in the system of irrigation and melioration of agricultural land, modern methods of livestock development was also emphasized.
During the conversation, the parties exchanged views on other promising areas of Uzbek-Australian cooperation.
