Khokim of the Andijan city Bakhromjon Khaydarov was detained as a measure of restraint during the preliminary investigation, a Kun.uz source reports. This information was confirmed by the PGO press secretary Khayot Shamsutdinov.

It should be recalled that before being appointed to the post of khokim of the Andijan city, he headed the regional finance department. Then he and his accomplices plundered 48 billion soums from the state budget. As part of the investigation conducted by the Prosecutor General’s Office, 37 people were brought to justice, 32 of them were detained. So far, only 23% of the damage has been recovered. It is known that the investigation is being conducted by the PGO Department for Combating Organized Crime and Corruption.

On May 28, Khaydarov was deprived of parliamentary immunity.

Earlier, Bakhromjon Khaydarov, already in his capacity as khokim, was accused of causing more than 1.7 billion soums of damage to state interests as a result of violating land acquisition norms. The Andijan regional prosecutor’s office did not inform the public about the fate of its submission, filed with the regional Council of people’s deputies on February 3, 2022, to deprive the khokim, who is also a deputy, of immunity.

Until now, illegal actions of the Andijan city khokim on allocating land, insulting citizens and other issues have been strongly condemned by the public.
