The PGO has submitted for discussion a draft law “On amendments and additions to certain legislative acts of the Republic of Uzbekistan”.

According to the draft law, Article 197-7 is added to the Administrative Responsibility Code, which provides for liability for unlawful interference in the activities of a medical worker (preventing a medical worker from providing medical assistance or medical services).

For this offense, a fine of 5 to 7 BCAs will be imposed, and for officials – from 7 to 10 BCAs or administrative arrest for up to 15 days.

Paragraph “j” of Article 277-3 of the Criminal Code is also amended, providing that hooliganism against a person or his close relatives in connection with the performance of his official or civic duty may be punished from 3 to 5 years in prison, thereby toughening penalties for attacks on medical personnel.
