There are heated discussions on social networks about whether a passenger sitting next to the driver should pay a fine for not wearing a seatbelt, as such a requirement came into force from May 1.
The traffic police of Tashkent told why they are not currently applying a punitive measure to passengers who are not wearing a seat belt.
According to Shodmon Safarov, a senior specialist of the Tashkent traffic police, at present, the legislation does not provide for a fine in relation to a passenger who is not wearing a seat belt. That is, the Code has not yet been amended on the liability of passengers.
“Proposals to amend the legislation regarding the punishment for a passenger who is not wearing a seat belt are under consideration,” said the traffic police officer.
