On May 30, at a meeting of the PDPU faction in the Legislative Chamber of Oliy Majlis, one of the bills was excluded from the agenda, the press service of the party reported.

Initially, it was proposed to consider in the first reading the bill "On amendments and additions to the Criminal Code, the Criminal Procedural Code and the Administrative Responsibility Code of the Republic of Uzbekistan."

Member of the faction Firdavs Sharipov noted that a number of articles of the bill provide for an increase in fines, increased penalties for offenses that do not pose a great social danger, and the reasons for this are not fully justified.

It was noted that increasing the amount of fines is contrary to the ideas of the People’s Democratic Party, especially in the face of rising prices for basic consumer goods, it is inappropriate to discuss the issue of increasing the amount of fines.

The bill also provides for the establishment of a large fine for video and photography of traffic police officers. It states that posting on social networks photos and videos of law enforcement officers while performing their official duties entails a fine of 50 BCAs or administrative arrest for up to 15 days.

During the meeting, it was noted that it is impossible to prohibit the distribution of photos and videos of the activities of law enforcement officers at a time when reforms are being carried out in the country in the field of openness, transparency and accountability of public administration.
