Uzbek media agencies and UNA discuss prospects for expanding cooperation in Riyadh

At the talks, a high assessment was given to the role of the union in strengthening and expanding international relations between the media of the OIC member states, as well as UNA assistance in disseminating information about political events held in Uzbekistan and major economic and cultural-humanitarian events. In addition, it was noted that there are wide opportunities for cooperation between Uzbek media agencies and UNA, especially given that Uzbekistan has a rich cultural and historical heritage. In this context, it was emphasized that using the capabilities of such a media platform as UNA can serve the interests of not only Uzbekistan and the union, but also all OIC member states.

Muhammad Abd Rabbo al-Yami made a presentation on the vision and long-term plans of the union for the coming years, which focused on the role of UNA as the main media platform of the OIC member states, as well as the development of a media industry based on Islamic and media values. These include the promotion of transparency, trust, tolerance, rejection of racism and other modern challenges and threats in any of their manifestations. He also reported on the reform of the structure and optimization of its work carried out within the framework of UNA, the expansion of services provided, a significant reduction in the amount of contributions from OIC member countries to the Union of News Agencies.

In addition, the UNA Director General informed about the opportunities for providing strategic advice for the interaction of the media of the OIC member states through representatives of official national news agencies. In this context, the head of UNA emphasized the importance of signing memorandums of cooperation with the “UzA” National Information Agency of Uzbekistan and the “Dunyo” Information Agency of the MFA.

Muhammad Abd Rabbo al-Yami put forward a number of proposals aimed at strengthening cooperation between Uzbek media agencies and UNA, in particular regarding the organization of practical classes for Uzbek journalists, a media tour and other joint projects.

For information, UNA was established in 1972 as a specialized body of the OIC for the purpose of wide dissemination through an online platform of daily news in Arabic, English and French.
