The meeting discussed topical aspects of expanding interaction between the TURKSOY member countries within the framework of the UNESCO mandate, including in the field of promoting education and science, preserving and popularizing tangible and intangible cultural heritage.
The Uzbek side during the event held a series of speeches on the reforms undertaken by the Government of the Republic within the framework of the mandate of UNESCO. A detailed presentation was organized for the World Ministerial Conference on Early Childhood Care and Education, scheduled for November in Tashkent, to be held jointly with UNESCO. The importance of the participation of the Ministers of Education of all TURKSOY member countries at the forum was noted.
The participants were also informed about measures to promote the candidacies of Uzbekistan to the Intergovernmental Committee for the Preservation of the Intangible Cultural Heritage for 2022-2026, as well as the UNESCO Executive Board for 2023-2027. Gratitude was expressed to those present for supporting the initiatives of Uzbekistan within the framework of UNESCO, including for the co-authorship of the resolution “Khiva process”, which was unanimously approved by the Executive Board and the General Conference of the organization.
Within the framework of the event, separate negotiations were held with the heads of delegations of Turkey, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Turkmenistan. Promising areas of cooperation within the framework of UNESCO were discussed. An agreement was reached on the inclusion in the coming years of joint nominations in the World Heritage List, as well as in the List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.
