During the meeting, the current state and prospects of bilateral cooperation, as well as the dynamics of the development of inter-parliamentary relations were discussed.
Belgian politicians highly appreciated the ongoing democratic reforms in Uzbekistan, including in the sphere of parliamentarism. In particular, they welcomed the strengthening of the role of the parliament in the socio-political life of the country, the growth in the number of women among the deputies.
The parties agreed on the need to intensify the activities of the Belgium-Uzbekistan Friendship Group, established in 2006, which is designed to promote the deepening and expansion of inter-parliamentary cooperation.
An agreement was reached on organizing a visit of the parliamentary delegation of Belgium to Uzbekistan in the second half of 2022, within the framework of which a regular meeting of the inter-parliamentary group will be held.
