World Customs Organization to reform customs service in Uzbekistan
The Ambassador of Uzbekistan in Brussels, Dilyor Khakimov, met with the Secretary General of the World Customs Organization (WCO) Kunio Mikuriya, Dunyo correspondent reports.

During the meeting, Kunio Mikuriya and the Regional Development Manager of the Directorate for Capacity Building of the WCO Dashgin Aliyev were solemnly presented with commemorative badges “Davlat bojkhona khizmatiga 30 yil” and congratulatory messages from the Chairman of the State Customs Committee of Uzbekistan Akmalkhudja Mavlonov.
The new appointed employee of the Embassy for cooperation with the WCO was officially presented to the Secretary General. The head of the organization welcomed this decision and noted that the appointment of a representative is another positive step on the part of Tashkent. “It is gratifying that today Uzbekistan is maximally involved and actively participates in the activities of the organization,” he said.
The Secretary General stressed that Uzbekistan is a very important partner of the WCO in Central Asia and in recent years “special relations” have been established between the parties. “I highly appreciate the attention paid by the President of Uzbekistan to our interaction. In this sense, successful and intensive cooperation is an example for other countries.
The head of the WCO noted that at this stage of the transformation of the customs service of Uzbekistan, the most important thing is the development of human potential to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals.
During the meeting, the implementation of the Action Plan to deepen cooperation between Uzbekistan and the World Customs Organization for 2022-2023 was also discussed.
The Secretary General noted that the Plan covers a wide range of issues and the Organization will do its best to assist in the implementation of activities in full.
The World Customs Organization expresses its readiness for further assistance in reforming the customs service, promoting trade development and facilitating customs procedures.
