According to the MIFT, during the meeting, the parties discussed the current state of political, trade-economic, cultural-humanitarian cooperation, the implementation of existing agreements and prospects for deepening partnership in priority areas.
The head of the Japanese diplomatic mission highly appreciated the scale and level of the Tashkent International Investment Forum held in March this year in the context of promoting the country’s economic, investment and trade potential in the international business community.
It was emphasized that the event was attended by the heads of major Japanese companies and commercial banks, such as Sojitz Corporation, Kyuden International, Nekkie, Toyota Tsusho Corporation, Mitsubishi Corporation and the Japan Bank for International Cooperation (JBIC), which indicates the growing interest of Japanese business in the Uzbek market. The parties agreed to develop cooperation in attracting Japanese corporations to implement projects in Uzbekistan.
Prospects for deepening cooperation with the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) were discussed. The parties welcomed the significant progress made in the implementation of joint projects, and also considered opportunities for expanding JICA’s activities in Uzbekistan. Promising areas in this context were the areas of animal husbandry, irrigation and water-saving technologies.
Following the meeting, the parties, having considered other areas of Uzbek-Japanese cooperation, outlined further steps for practical cooperation, promotion of bilateral agreements and acceleration of the implementation of agreed projects.
