According to the press service of the Energy Ministry, the station is being built on 353 hectares of land, 295,000 solar panels are being installed.
The construction of the $100 million solar power plant is being fully funded and implemented by the French company Total Eren on the basis of a public-private partnership. The operation of the station will save 78 million cubic meters of natural gas per year and prevent the release of 100,000 tons of greenhouse gases into the atmosphere. This amount of saved gas is equivalent to the daily gas supply of all existing households in the country.
It should be recalled that the investment agreement was concluded on September 13, 2019 between the government of Uzbekistan represented by the Ministry of Investment and Foreign Trade, the French company Total Eren SA and the LLC Tutly Solar with foreign investment.
In Uzbekistan, this is the second largest solar photovoltaic station for the generation of electricity from renewable energy sources. The first solar power plant of this capacity was launched in August 2021 in the Karmana district, Navoi region.
It is planned that by the end of 2023, the second industrial solar power plant with a capacity of 220 megawatts will be put into operation in the Samarkand region. The project is being implemented in the Kattakurgan district by Masdar (UAE).
