A ceremony of signing a grant between the government of Japan and the Ministry of Health of Uzbekistan for $619 thousand, aimed at supporting regional medical institutions, was held today in Tashkent, a Dunyo correspondent reports.
The ceremony was attended by the Ambassador of Japan Yoshinori Fujiyama, Deputy Minister of Health of Uzbekistan Anvar Alimov, as well as representatives of medical centers, associations and the Society of the Blind in Uzbekistan.
“Today I am signing grant contracts under the program of gratuitous assistance to small-scale social projects to ensure human security for projects aimed at fundamentally improving conditions in the field of healthcare and education. This grant will be used to provide medical equipment in medical institutions of the Republic of Karakalpakstan in Khorezm, Samarkand, Kashkadarya regions and the city of Tashkent. This cooperation is a testament to the friendship and firm will of the Japanese people to further strengthen friendly relations with Uzbekistan,” the Ambassador said.
It should be recalled that since 1995, within the framework of this program, 406 projects have been implemented in Uzbekistan for medical and educational institutions, local authorities and non-governmental non-profit organizations totaling about $27 million.
