It was reported that citizen D.U. (born in 1969 in Khiva) and his son D.Kh. (born in 1994), during their tenure as a labor migrant in Russia in 2009-2015, came under the influence of members of international terrorist organizations through social networks.
As a result, in September 2015, the father and his son traveled to Syria via Turkey to obtain a fake Tajik passport in order not to reveal their identities. Subsequently, they joined the Islamic State international terrorist organization and took part in hostilities.
Later, D.U. returned from Syria to one of the CIS countries to carry out subversive activities.
As a result of rapid search operations conducted by State Security Service officers in conjunction with foreign partners, D.U. was detained and extradited to Uzbekistan.
It is noted that at the time of the arrest, D.U. actively resisted. In subsequent proceedings, he stated that he had not renounced his views on “jihad”.
D.U. is currently being interrogated as part of a criminal case initiated under the relevant articles of the Criminal Code.
Moreover, a search has been announced for his son.
