Uzbekistan may open a representative office of UN Women’s Committee

In Dubai, Saida Mirziyoeva met with the Minister of State for Government Development and the Future in the United Arab Emirates Ohood Khalfan Al Roumi in the Leadership Expo-2020 pavilion of the World Expo-2020.

“It should be noted that in the last 50 years, the UAE has become one of the most developed countries in the world, a safe zone for people, especially for women. At the meeting, we exchanged views on socio-economic issues, discussed prospects for cooperation in many areas,” the Deputy Chairperson of the Board of Trustees of the Mass Media Foundation said.

During the meeting, Ohood Khalfan Al Roumi expressed her great interest in Uzbekistan’s exhibition in the Louvre. She said that Uzbekistan, mentioned in one of the World Bank’s rankings as a major reformer, was a wonderful country and dreamed of seeing ancient cities.

Another important meeting within the framework of Expo 2020 was held with the Minister of State for International Cooperation of the UAE, Director General of Expo 2020 Reem Ebrahim Al-Hashimi.

“The coverage and cultural diversity of Expo-2020 Dubai international fair is amazing. This global platform brings together more than 190 countries,” Saida Mirziyoyeva said.

In addition, the Deputy Chairperson of the Board of Trustees of the Mass Media Foundation met with the Minister of Culture and Youth Affairs of the UAE Noura bint Mohammed Al Kaabi during the visit.

“During the conversation, we discussed the participation of Uzbekistan in the Al-Burda festival, which will be held as part of Expo-2020. Ms. Al Kaabi stressed the importance of Uzbekistan’s role in the Islamic world,” Saida Mirziyoyeva added.

The Deputy Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Mass Media Foundation also met with Alia El-Yassir, UN Women Regional Director for Europe and Central Asia and Representative to Turkey.

“Ms. Aliya praised the achievements of Uzbekistan in addressing gender issues in recent years. She supported the idea of creating a summer school for girls from Central Asian countries, as well as proposed to open a representative office of the UN Women’s Committee in our country,” Saida Mirziyoyeva said.

Earlier, the Dubai Opera House hosted the international premiere of the ballet “Lazgi – dance of the heart and love”.

For information, the international fair Expo-2020 is being held in Dubai. The National Pavilion of Uzbekistan, which in recent years has demonstrated the country’s scientific and economic achievements, cultural heritage and tourism potential, as well as plans for the development of New Uzbekistan, investment opportunities to the wider international community, is carrying out its work.
