Gov’t to allocate over $4 billion for development of Karakalpakstan
The government will allocate 43 trillion soums (more than $4 billion) for the development of Karakalpakstan. It is planned to build the Nukus City complex in the region.

This was announced by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev during his visit to Karakalpakstan, Kun.uz correspondent reports.
“The spheres of trade, tourism, culture, education, engineering and IT will be developed in Nukus. We will create 6 thousand new jobs, allocating $100 million over five years. In addition, the Nukus City complex will be built to attract investors and create conditions,” Mirziyoyev said.
In general, for the development of the region, 43 trillion soums will be allocated; from the budget – 10 trillion soums and from international financial institutions – 19 trillion soums. Additional 14 trillion soums will be bank loans.
Also, it is planned to create 70 thousand new jobs in the field of agriculture and water management.
“There are conditions for the development of beef cattle breeding in Karakalpakstan,” the president stressed.
In some areas, cotton fields will be used to grow fodder.
In addition, within five years in Karakalpakstan, on the territory of 200 thousand hectares, it is planned to restore pastures.
A fund for the development of animal husbandry will be created in the region. For the activities of the fund, 100 billion soums will be allocated.
