Over the past two years, there have been 7 accidents related to attractions, 3 of which were fatal. The Industrial Safety Committee says the authorities and the Ministry of Emergency Situations ignore calls for the decommissioning of faulty attractions.
Out of 1,879 attractions installed in 144 operating parks in the regions, 1,655 activities were suspended due to identified shortcomings. This was announced at a press conference held this week with the participation of employees of the State Committee for Industrial Safety.
After the creation of the Inspection for the Control of Amusement Parks in the State Committee, the state of compliance with the requirements for the safe use of amusement rides was studied and the following was identified:
- out of 1,879 attractions installed in parks and recreation areas, 1,655 were suspended due to identified deficiencies;
- the persons responsible for the safe use of amusement rides installed in the parks operating on the territory have been warned;
- 175 artisanal attractions installed in parks, 582 faulty and unusable attractions without passports and tags of the production enterprise were identified, 145 of them were taken out of service;
- 738 amusement rides installed in parks were overhauled;
- contracts were concluded with specialized organizations, 438 technical passports of attractions were restored, their types were determined;
- 337 people from among the service personnel of the amusement rides were trained in special courses.
“We sent appeals to the Republic of Karakalpakstan, regional khokimiyats and the Ministry of Emergency Situations with a request for practical assistance in dismantling outdated and unusable attractions installed in regional parks. However, despite the measures taken by the Committee, this issue is ignored by ministries and departments,” Olimjon Jurayev, head of the Committee’s department, said.
It is reported that during 2019-2021, there were 7 accidents related to attractions. These accidents resulted in the tragic death of three people.
