On February 6, in Tashkent, Uzbekistan’s Minister of Justice, Akbar Tashkulov, and the Swiss Ambassador to Uzbekistan, Konstantin Obolensky, signed an agreement outlining the distribution of Gulnara Karimova’s confiscated assets in Switzerland.

"The funds returned via the Trust Fund will be allocated to socially significant projects in healthcare and education, benefiting the population of Uzbekistan," the statement reads.

It is important to note that on August 16, 2022, Uzbekistan and Switzerland signed an agreement outlining methods for the return of illegally acquired assets confiscated in Switzerland for the benefit of Uzbekistan's population. This document establishes the mechanisms for returning assets through the Uzbekistan Vision 2030 fund, along with its key principles and objectives.

Under the initial agreement, approximately $131 million was returned to Uzbekistan. With the signing of the new agreement, the total amount of returned funds will reach $313 million.
